1996 XJS Celebration Edition
I'm looking into this XJS convertible because it's the latest of production with the 4.0L engine. I did some reading and read that these celebration models have a galvanized body, is this true? Hardly to believe because the car shows a few rust spots. Also the car has 260k. Is this a car to consider or to let go?

I think the galvanized steel started in 1991. Just because it is galvanized doesn't mean it is rust proof. Up where you live it is still probably going to see an incredible amount of salt and it is two decades old.
How much do they want for the car? 260k miles if an ever loving fu!@load. The engine pretty much requires a rebuild at that point. Unless you mean kilometers, in which case that is still getting up there, but possibly worth a buy for the right price.
I would also consider the price of a new top since that one is two decades old.
The celebration has some bits inside and different wheels, nothing to make or break a deal in my opinion.

marmar1305,
As mentioned by sidescrollin, the galvanised panels came in with the facelift body in 1991. Over 60% of the body was made of galvanised steel, which helps but doesn't preclude corrosion.
If you can see a few rust spots, I would suggest there are a lot more that you can't see! 260k miles on an AJ16 engine is possible but there's no reason to buy one with over 100k unless it's silly cheap and you want a project car.
Celebrations will always be worth a premium as the last XJSs but there are plenty out there to choose from.
Good luck with your choice
