1996 XJS convertible with Chevy engine

Just to prove it, this is the day I picked up my girl. I've owned cat-print faux fur coats since high school, so it was clearly meant to be.

Well the jacket does seem to fit the XJS very nicely. I am hoping the look stays with the jacket as I was having this vision of Cat Women ( you know from Bat Man with the full cat outfit ) jumping out of an XJS-LOL!!!. Now if Cat Women starts driving around in a Jag that might seem a little over the top.
Yes I would say the testosterone theory does not hold up at all with a female driver but all in fun anyways. Truth be told I really like Ronbro's 1978 roadster but I have to defend the 6 any time I can. I always have a great amount of respect to those that are willing to tackle the 12 just never equated it to a over abundance of testosterone-LOL. That is what I love about these post is the crazy comments that make it a fun read and get things stirred up now and then. After all we are a pretty passionate group of Jag owners and why not; what a wonderful car to take care of.
I keep mine covered up in the garage and then when I need to lift my spirit, I pull back the cover and just admire the wonderful lines on the XJS.

well said luvmyxjs;
just yesterday, i pulled back my cover and fired her up set rpm to 1300rpm,(have adjustable ECU), for 20 min. to warm it up and dry off the condensation on the engine, kinda cold and damp day, condensation on aluminum stains it. can walk away and listen from different angles.
and with my 5" exhaust outlet along with radical cams, the sound was terrific and exciting, YUP! must be me, (wife says grow up),, NAH, no fun in that!

many yrs ago 1993, when i aquired my 78 Jag, they were refered to as a Feline cat, women drove them quite often, women still like them, as i have witnessed many times at car shows.
so i says to my self,SELF, we gotta put some masculinity into this thing, so i went about my ideas of it.
low and wide, big fat tires, chop the roof off, LOUD and boisterous and fast&furious!
hey its not my daily, its about my toys, and surely exclusive (try and find another 1978 XJS roadster V12 in the USA),OH yes did i mention its RHD (right hand drive), driving requiers consentration on the basic art of driving.
thanks for your insight about these wonderful cars!

Now I'm suffering from cylinder envy. I'll have to get a V12 next.
(pretty sure it'll be an XJ though).

If you want a Chevy buy a Chevy???
"Leaving the emotion aside" takes half, if not more, of the fun out of owning it.
Different strokes for different folks, of course...
Cheers,
John

to use a chevy V8 in any type of car has got to be the most overworked mod known to the car culture,(nothing wrong with chevy engines of all models!) i have owned and used so many that cant remember all of them!
quick pix, of some( not mine tho) darn! cant find pix of my 1964 dragster sling shot, stroked 327 chevy V8 with blower running Nitro+methanol, damn near killed me when out of control, YUNO, young, dumb, and full of cu@m

Uh…
Although Jags might somewhere else be well known for their reliability and low cost to maintain, and may have gotten a bad rap otherwise, that bad rap STUCK amongst every car guy I know, which again, because I obviously don't know EVERY CAR GUY, me and the ones I DO know may be WAY OFF.
THAT SAID, the concept of hatchet jobs by idiots can NEVER be argued when it comes to working on cars. Because of the expense of keeping a Jag ALL JAG here in the states, and the undeniably beautiful bodies they have, the swap to reliable, abundant Chevy power is a NO BRAINER, even for guys with NO BRAINS.
ENTER THIS DUDE.
Andrew from Jaguar Specialties. I challenge anyone reading this to find a hatchet job amongst the following cars.

I have a lump!!! Some installs are awful and some pristine. Mine falls somewhere between. I did a lot of research and thinking before I chose between fixing a "0 in all holes 4.2' and converting. It isn't easy, either way. I've not looked back and it has been just fine.
However, I've not concerned myself with resale value. No matter, I like it and it isn't for sale.
And, I liked it as 4.2. I bought it that way and drove it and it was just fine.
But, wow, it sure runs nice now and the OD trans is a bonus in itself.
It could well have gone to Jaguar Heaven, located in Stockton, Ca. It broke not far away!!!

You know what this post is about. How about you unsubscribe from this post if it bothers you so much?
You've made your opinion clear. I'm pretty sure there's not anything more you have to offer this thread.

What on earth would allow you the freedom on an open forum to call me out as to having "issues" "unrelated" to this subject?? Seriously, do you know me? Know my background, family life, personal tastes???? No, no and no. Quit jumping to "personal" conclusions and keep this " car" related. I did. Not once did I step out and get "personal". I think lumping Jaguars is crap, my opinion and I stated it but to insinuate I've "issues" beyond cars is going a bit too far.
