1996 XJS HELP ECU
Hello, I am new to this site, I own a an XJS 1996 4.0 Cov. Currently out of commission, ECU damaged due to probable water damage, car has sat for 1 1/2 yrs, has 175,000 miles on it but kept nicely, dealer wants $2,200.00 for ECU, I purchased a used ECU from Jag Heaven dismatlers but it did not work for my vehicle it ran rough. Any thoughts, My ECU has coroded prongs/ and some teeth are broken off, and loose to the touch.
Once I get her running what issues may I experience due to its long term inoperation?
Your thoughts would be appreciated.

RE: 1996 XJS HELP ECU
Dark Knight. Welcome to the site. As with any car sitting for so long, corrosion is your worst enemy. Clean any and all fittings, grounds, and electrical posts. It wouldn't hurt to change all fluids, filters, and put new gas in it. Moisture can collect and cause havoc! Other than the basics, you should be OK, you've got a great car. The only way it would be better is if they had continued the 6.0 liter V-12.

I have a 96 XJS 2+2 and had a problem with the ECU. Purchased one from a wreaking yard and, after five tries, found one that worked for $150. During my research on the net, I found two locations that rebuild these units. One in Texas will do it for $450 and gives you a 5 year warranty. That's a lot better than the dealer price. Good luck.
