How the hell to get the plastic seat backs off?!
there a some screws on the outside, easy. Then the back seems to be clipped in, not easy, clips broken. The main problem is that the lever for manually tilting the seat back forward is moulded into the seat back but is attached to seat, impossible?
trying to get to the power recline motor.
thank you for attention.

Power Seat recline issues continued, no joy.
After considerable struggles I did get the seat back off my 1996 XJS that would not “unrecline”. Power seat base moves back and forth and the seat-back reclines back but not forward.
I managed to get the recline motor out and confirmed the the back button spins the motor the forward button doesn’t. The seat module on the floor does click so it is getting the signal from the door switch.
So I had planned to test for signal coming into the motor from both switches and try switching the wires between backwards and forwards on the motor to see if I could at least get the seat-back back up to a comfortable position but I cannot figure out how to unclip the wire connector from the motor 😞 it does not want to come out and I don’t want break it or the wires.
I tried (a little) to manually crank the seat recline gear in the seat to try to adjust the back but no movement. Once again I didn’t want to get too brutal with it.
Does anyone know if there is a way to manually adjust the angle of the seat back with the motor out?
Right now I have disconnected the battery for a while as I have read the sometimes that can reset the control modules, although in forums it looks like that didn’t really help anyone.
So looking for advice…

I’m assuming the issue isn’t the motor itself since it does work off the back switch. Is there a secret to disconnecting the wire connector?
Thanks!
