Default 1996 XJS seats - please help

Both XJS seats in my 1996 convertible are completely inoperable because the motors got wet. Unfortunately, they are completely stuck and cannot be moved. How can I remove the seats to replace what I need to under the seats? There is NO room whatsoever to get a wrench under the seats. Does anyone have a solution or am I the only guy in the Jag world that has this difficult issue. (I’ve called some professional Jag mechanics - no one has a clue.)
THANKS for any input!

Welcome to the forums jmccue,

I've copied your question from New Member Area - Intro a MUST to XJS forum. Members here with the same model will be able to help.

air ratchet maybe with a bolt remover socket if you can’t fit a normal socket.

Default Thank you ......

There’s no room whatsoever to get any type of wrench, wrench extender or other tool under the XJS seats. All shop tools have been tried.
Thank you.

I've had this problem with a flood car I parted... I was able to get the seats moving with the liberal use of PB blaster sprayed on the rails. Left it over night and then applied more while rocking the seat back by hand and electric power.

Ill look up the spray. BTW, the seat motors, etc., are cooked so no power at all.
Thank you!

I mean, depends what you consider easy.

i didnt know that all cars came with a 25mm spacer. i removed mine thinking someone had added it to sit higher in the car!

I'm thinking of selling my 1996 XJS that has the aforementioned seat issue. What is a site you'd recommend to list it? Should I start with a listing here on Jaguar Forums?

Why not here and eBay, Craigslist, etc. I'd list in as many places as I can.

It has been a long time and I don't have a picture for you to look at, When you look at the front seat frame there is two small screws that you remove with their washers. You then grab the gold colored pin with a pair of vice grips and pull towards you. Repeat on other side of seat. You are trying to remove the seat motor drive pins from the motors themselves. You can then lift the seats out and repair. Have you checked the fuses yet?

Not sure it's the same for a 1996.

This eBay seller is selling that bottom rack. There do appear to be four screws holding it in. I'm not sure removing it would really do anything.

In the second picture, towards the left front and right front of frame is two brass colored rods that have two capture washers and screws. remove the capture screws and washers to remove the brass colored rods to disconnect the seat track from the motor. Did you check fuses?

Drill the bolts out from underneath the car.
