Hello , Ive been reading this forum for awhile and now have a question that repeated searching has failed to answer . I have a 1994 XJS convertible , I removed the hood and trunk to have them repainted . After reinstalling them I can not find where the 3 rd brake light wiring(plug) goes. I know its some where near the battery but I can not find the plug . The pig tail from the 3rd brake light runs down along the right hand hinge and ends around the battery . there is a big wad of wires that run up and around the lid strut and wheel liner but no luck finding the other half of the plug . Guess I should have taken pictures.
I've just fitted a spoiler to my 1994.75MY convertible. As part of that, I had to wire in the high-mounted stop light. The HMSL connector is located in the LEFT hand rear inner wing. In the attached pic, you can see the black connector plug to which I wired in the light harness.
Thanks for the reply , I will check for the plug on the left side of the trunk tomorrow . That would be the opposite side from the battery . I was sure it was on the right side.

Is there a difference is where the wiring runs between a left hand drive car and right hand drive car? I ask because all of the wiring for the trunk lid mounted lights run down the right side on my car. .
I don't think so. Most of the rear components in XJSs are in a common position eg battery, relays, ecus etc, anti-slosh module, brakelight failure module etc etc. The HMSL wiring connector is on the left and is detailed as such in the Jaguar spoiler fitting instructions (see below).
