6.0 Engine Number

6.0 Engine Number
What was the beginning engine number for the 1993-1997 6.0s?
I checked the engine numbers listed in Kirby's book. Although it mentions that the TWR 6.0s had engine numbers beginning with 8W01******, it makes no mention of the later 6.0 engine numbers. I've also checked various websites, but, they either omit the 6.0 entirely, or have a question mark listed for the engine number that started the production run. I know I've seen the info somewhere, but, I can't seem to find it now.

JagZilla,
As far as I am aware, I think there's a little bit of misunderstanding there. There are broadly 3 types of 6.0 engines:
- the engines modified by TWR and fitted as an option to the TWR XJS up to 1988
- the engines produced by JaguarSport (joint venture company between Jaguar & TWR) and fitted to the production Jaguar XJR-S from 1988 to 1993. No "TWR XJS" were produced once JaguarSport was set up.
- the engines fitted to the "standard" 6.0 XJS from 1993-1996. When the company launched the "standard" 6.0 model, XJR-S ceased to be produced.
In terms of engine id:
- TWR-modified 6.0 engines had standard "8S...." numbers as per the 5.3 engines supplied by Jaguar
-JaguarSport XJR-S 6.0 engines have "8W..." numbers
- "Standard" 6.0 XJS have "8D..." numbers
I think that's correct!
