84 HE Radio Fuse issue
Hi Guys,
I was doing a pretty routine job of replacing a the working stock radio for a new modern radio. Everything was going fine until and the radio was functional until I started packing the wires and radio into the cosole at which point the radio went dead and I cannot get it back - I switched the fuse in the new radio, looked at all of the fuses in both pannelsunder the dashand even tried reinstalling the old radio without luck.
SO my question is - am I stupid and just missed a fuse in the panel or is there another location where there is a radio fuse.
Thanks for your help!
Ted

RE: 84 HE Radio Fuse issue
I'm having a similar problem on my 1990 xjs 3.6.
In my case the problem was caused by playing Guns and Roses at full blast (Maybe there is a taste function I dont know about)
I used a volt meter and there is no power going to the memory wire, the fuel/distance computer is also not storing data as resets itself every time the car is started.
Checked all fuses I could find. The manual does not list a radio fuse.

Suggest you get a known 12 vt source and attach it to the radio see if it works. Also good hookup schematics in the Electric Manual for your car. Also check fuses with meter to insure they are OK. Eyeballing may be deceptive. Bad grounds, Antenna corrosion at mast. If the radio works and you have 12vts in the car you have a wiring/fuse problem, but I think you know that! Make sure ground wire is actually grounded; could have high resistance. All connections soldered.
