'86 XJS
Hi all,
I bought an '86 XJS basket case at an auction a few weeks ago for peanuts. Initially, I was buying it to part out (I want the front and rear suspension and front seats).
But, as I got into looking at it, the interior is all there and in good shape(leathers a bit hard, but reconditionable), and apart from 2 dings and a minor tweak in the front bumper corner, it's in good shape externally except the paint. It's got 70 odd thousand miles and it bumped over on ether, so I figured it would be worth getting it running and try to keep it together.
This thread is manifold:
1)If you're interested in a nice red rust-free Texas XJS, I've got one.
2)I bought enough EV-1 connectors w/ boots to do 2 harnessess, I'll glady build a second for parts cost plus $50. I'm planning on using a 5-pin metri-pack for the harness end, I can do whatever is convenient, though. no splices, will probably use GXL wire, and it will run up under the fuel rail and rearward.
3)Any common problem threads you can point me to would be much appreciated. I'm in the process of cleaning out the fuel system, which was completely varnished up, and I'm going to pre-emptively build a new injector harness. I bought a new coolant temp sensor as that was mentioned as an issue a few times. I have not tested the TPS yet. I have not tested the AAS yet.
4)any long term setup problems besides fuel varnish are specifically what I'm interested in.
5)some specific questions:
How tight do the injector pintle caps need to be? None are cracked, but they're all able to slip up and down probably 1/16". Keep in mind this is a flip, so I'm not throwing parts for no reason.
Thanks in advance for the input
