'92 XJS Inboard rear rotors - replacement
Planning the replacement of the rear rotors and pads on my '92 XJS. Reading up on how to in my Haynes 1972-1985 manual (figure the rear is probably pretty much the same). Doesn't sound too(?) difficult if I could just identify some of the parts they are referring to. The book is kinda shy on illustrations and this is the first Jaguar (and IRS) I've ever worked on so....I'm at a loss at some of the parts they're referring to, such as:
Radius arm locking bolt
Spigot anchor point
I think I've identified the shock absorber lower mounting pin (seems self explanitory) and the driveshaft inner universal joint shroud.
If I am understanding the procedure correctly....and I'm not sure that I am... basically I disconnect the shock assys at the lower mount, remove the bolt from the bottom of the hub carrier (my term, the part that connects to the lower arm and axle and carries the hub bearings), pivot the lower arm down while supporting the hub carrier on block or a stand, disconnect the shroud and slide it back, remove the bolts that secure the axle/rotor to the final drive and pry the axle away to facilitate disc removal????
thanks

You need to jack the car up as high as you can. Disconnect the shocks at the lower mount. Then unbolt the half shaft from the inner flange at the brake rotor. Pay attention to the shims and these set the camber. Then swing the control arm down far enough to get the rotor out. You also need to remove the caliper.

I have just done this and it is easiest if you can drop the rear end out.
You will need to remove hand brake calipers from the main caliper then remove the calipers the RH one is a bugger because of the lower bolt.
Don't forget to wire them back up again, fencing wire works with a cordless drill.
Radius arm and radius arm locking bolt (broken in my case)
