94 XJS brake light problem....
The 3 brake lights do not operate on my 94 XJS. A clicking sound can be heard under the center console near the gear selector when the pedal is depressed &the car is in park. The clicking sound is not present when the car is in drive & the pedal is depressed. The fuse for the brake light i discovered was blown. I replaced the fuse w/ the correct amperage fuse & as soon as the brake pedal is depressed the fuse blows. Sounds like a short? Is there a brake light switch relay located somewhere? Thanks in advance for anyones help.

Brake light problem solved
I don't about your situation, but was loosely related to the power antenna. It wasn't working so I set out to fix it. I can't find a replacement so I replaced the damaged rectifier on the board. Haven't put it back in yet. Sorry Side tracked.
Back on Track
when I put in the inline fuse and plugged in the anntenna & antenna relay located on the right side in the trunk, as soon as I put my foot on the brake, it would blow to fuse for the turning indicators and brake lights (7.5amp fuse) as well as the trunk interior / caravan lights (15amp fuse).
Didn't quite understand this since the brake lights and trunk lights are on separate circuits. Then I got to thinking. They do share a ground - the chassis.
That's why when the power antenna was disconnected, the lights worked. I haven't put the power antenna unit back together yet, but I will let you know if the blown rectifier on the circuit board was the problem.
Keep you posted,
Mark
When I took the curcuit board out of the antenna
