96 XJS inspection failure

96 XJS inspection failure
I recently started drivng my mother's XJS Convertible that was given to me. It has the straight 6-cyl engine. It wont pass State Inspection in Texas. My mom no longer drives the vehicle. The inspection sticker last inspection was Dec 2009. Its been in the garage for 4 to 5 years and not driven.
I get four Not Ready sensors errors. Code Not Ready.
I've heard of others with the same problem. Is there a fix? I dont have any experience with Jaguars. Really think this car is awesome.
The place where I took it and paid for the inspection and suggested I replace the thermostat. Saying it was stuck in the OPEN position and not letting the engine get HOT enough. I replaced the thermostat and still having the same problem.
Read something about ECM I did not understand. All comments, tips and advice is welcome.

I don't have any specific input for your engine, but in general, you need to put a couple of hundred miles on the car after any repair before getting the inspection again. If the T'stat was indeed open, the engine probably ran rich, and may be 'carboned up'. Drive it, and drive it hard for a bit...Italian tune up, as some say.

101K miles on that motor is nothing really. Your car needs a service before it's driven. Replace all the fluids, give it an "energetc" test drive and see if it sets the "Check Engine Light" if it does pull any codes and report back here. BTW you can get an inexpensive code reader in any auto parts store. You car is OBDII compliant.
Good luck,

Just want to add that for a little more money you can get the OBD2 reader that can monitor the sensors as you drive. On the 95-96 cars it is worth it.
Get new Champions rc12ycc's in there .30 gapped as well

Mine was the same, as they will need time to reset every time the battery is disconnected, or they sit for a long time. Buy an OBD2 reader, then drive it for 50-100 miles and check the monitor status with the reader. I have had several cars fail the test due to lack of use/ battery disconnect, and that is the way to get them passed.
I found a station that did not realise the Jag was OBD2 compliant (as it wasn't mandatory in 95), and he tested it the 'old fashioned' way, with a tailpipe sniffer..............probably harder to pas that way tho ........... :O)
