'96 xjs passenger seat removal
Hi. I know this question has been asked but I have not found a complete answer. I am trying to remove the passenger front seat of a '96 xjs. I can get to the front bolts but the motor is jammed and I can't get at the back bolts. Unlike older models there is not worm gear to push to the sides and slide the seat forward. It seems like they used the seat rails as at the gear that the motor drives the forward and backwards with. The illustration is below.
All bolts that can be reach were removed. Those are bolts 8 and the bolts holding item 4 in place but the motors don't disengage. Do I need to use a reciprocating saw to cut the back bolts off? It will be hard to reach but I can't think of another way. Help please!!

Dangerous me... I would try everything I could to get 12 volts to the motor - to un-jam it or free it up ... Is that possible? Maybe getting something on the shaft to drive the worm forward/back? Like pliers - while applying voltage - carefullllly?
It might also be possible to remove any and every bolt that holds the top part of the seat frame to the base or floor frame. On a 1990 without power seats, from memory, as soon as I was able to get 2 or 3 of the bolts loose it began to provide a whole new kind of wiggle room and an ability to move stuff (floor harness from seat harness) around. Tracks became separable... Wish I could offer more.

Thanks for the reply but the bolts that connect the seat to the frame can not be reached without removing the seat. I even thought to removing some of the upholstery but the rear bolts are blocked by the opposite rail runner.
maybe disconnecting item 5 on the diagram would disconnect the motor from the gear but it is hard to get at plus everything is bolted in place.

I figured it out!! If you unscrew the brass color torque screw attached to gear #4 located in the front of the seat and then pull hard on the pin/shaft that goes from gear 4 to the worm drive and pull it all the way out, its about 3 inches long and its an 8 point star shape shaft, it allows the worm drive to spin freely. I had to hammer one side of the rail from the back forward since that gear was seized a little. It all freed up and is working well.
This should work for '93-'96
