Default AAV Question

Just been testing my AAV while it’s off the car. Is it meant to close completely? When mine is hot the is a gap of about 1/2mm. The piston moves smoothly and isn’t seized.

YES.

Have read, and in that scribe is the adjustment I make when re-assembling the thing.

After a while the wax capsule seems to get tired and doesn't move as much as it does when new. That may be part of the problem.

Agreed, but the simple adjustment of the top section on assembly always closes them 100%.

In all I have done, over many years, only one really lazy bulb. Still got it pass the closed test 10 times, so good enough.

All done. Just got to get some JB Weld later in the week and refit and refill with coolant. While I’m waiting I thought I would clear out the valley ready for cleaning and fitting new spark plugs and a new set of leads. I think my distributor cap and rotor arm are the factory original Marelli parts. They look like they will clean up fine and I will refit. Plug leads are pretty rank though.
Rob.
