ABS ECU blink code trouble shooting

ABS ECU blink code trouble shooting
I've a 1995 XJS - with the DAC 10056 ATE ECU - I've a ABS light on - found the small three prong plug near the ECU ( in the boot left hand side ) shorted the barn/pink wire to the black - turned on ignition got what I think is a blink code 2 1 3 2 ... then the light shuts off - if I turn off and turn on the ignition I get the same blink code... what does it mean as a fault... wheel sensor ? etc..
thanks

DM914,
Don't condemn the Main valve just yet. I've never heard of one failing. The interconnectivity of the circuits could well mean that it's one of the wheel circuit ABS valves that has a lack of continuity that is throwing up a 21 code, rather than the Main valve itself.
The way that the Blink code system works means that it won't show you a 20-series code higher than 21 until you've fixed 21. The wheel circuit ABS valve codes are 22-27, so the way to check them is to run continuity checks. You can do this by back-probing and running the 32 ABS continuity checks as per teh workshop manual or alternatively, try running current to each wheel circuit valve valve and see if you can hear them all energising.
As regards Main valve seal kits - where have you seen those advertised? I've never seen one of those! Very interested.
Good luck
Paul

thanks for the help the 32 code is now gone as I replaced the right front ABS wheel sensor - but ABS light is still on so ran test again and now I have code 21 34 - which sensor is that one -
If they we're so darn expensive I'd just replace them all and be done... but ...
hopefully replacing one more will fix the issue...

34 is rear left. I have the 21-2 code on mine.

Appreciate this is quite an old thread but the ABS light has just come on in my 1994 XJS 4.0 Facelift . Tried to find the white 3 pin connector in the LH rear wheel well but no luck Took the hockey club panel out so I can get a good look at al the wiring but I cannot see it. Could it be located somewhere else in some of the later cars.

Hi Paul,
I checked my loom again but cannot find the diag connector, if it is there is not obvious. I also found this in another chat https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-light-270248/ which says the latest ABS systems with triangular reservoir can only be checked with a Jaguar PDU scanner. I think this is what I have. Attached a. picture of my loom in case anyone can spot the connector!

That silver module in your picture is the speed control module.
Post a picture of your brake fluid reservoir. That is the way to tell for sure what ABS you have. What threw me was your saying it's a 1994. In the US, the Teves IV system came out in the 1995 model year, but some cars were built in 1994. I think the UK goes by year built, not "model year".
If you have the Teves IV, there is no known way to get blink codes. Also, the computer is on the pump assembly, not located in the boot/trunk. The most common cause of failure on the late system, is cracked solder joints on the computer PCB for the pump motor connector. Mine had been repaired in the past, but I just had to repair it again.
