Default RE: AC Compressor for XJS

I would like to buy a NEW AC comporessor for my XJS V 12 from 1989. Any help?
Will it fit to R134a?
Thank you in advanced.
Nacho

Your Jag has the GM/Harrison "A6" compressor. Millions were built, with many sub-variations.

For your purposes the main issue is if it is a "superheat switch" switch design or a "high side, low pressure switch" design. (This refers to the way the system protects itself in the event the freon level gets too low)

You almost certainly need the HSLP type, as Jaguar starting using them in '87 or so.

Last time I researched this ( 3-4 years ago) there were no NEW HSLP A6s to be had. Only rebuilt units. Don't take mine as the final word, though. You can do some searching at acdelco.com and see what you can find by browsing other makes of cars. "New" or "rebuilt" will be clearly listed.

Cheers

If you go to the AC Delco page and start searching it might be easier to know which cars used the "HSLP" type compressor. The sire has a table that you can enter a part number and it'll show which cars used it.

The HSLP switch is a 15-2122 (Delco) or 2724020 (GM). Enter one of those numbers to find out which cars used it and then go searching for a new A6 compressor for THAT type of car.

Good luck
