Default AC high pressure hose

Hi

My high pressure hose (compressor to condensor hose) has finally given up after 42 years. Oil is now leaking out of the small cracks in the old hose, and the refrigerant charge is therefore also quickly lost.

I have visited a hose repair shop, which did not have a hose, that fitted well. 3/8" hose is too small, 1/2" is too large.

The hose to use is CCC5087 according to JLRCP

The hoses I find when ggogling CCC5087 will not fit my car as they have a treaded connection in both ends. EXAMPLE

What have you done to fix this in your XJ-S ? Is there a braze-on adapter available to make the available hoses fit ??

I intend to keep my Harrision A6 and thereby probably also the first part of the original steel tubing with the damper.

Any size hose, and any fitting you could dream of, is available. Conveniently available might be a different story.

Just one of umpteen vendors:

https://coldhose.com/

It sounds like you might need 5/8" hose. It isn't an unusual size. The above-linked vendor will sell it by-the-foot.

Is there a repair shop in your area specializing in A/C repairs? If so, ask them where they buy their hose and fittings

Cheers

5/8 will be larger than 1/2" in my book ?

What I need is more likely 7/16" (Edit: After looking in your link: 13/32" could easily be the right dimension !)

The hose shop I visited is good at hydraulic hoses and do also have some A/C hoses in stock

Leo
Aircon specialists have the correct diameter hoses and can make them up using your old fittings. Keep the meta part,as you said, because the Harrison metal part is not easily available, if at all.

The fitting that connects to the condenser is a standard fitting, you can get them in a crimp style rather than the hoseclamp. Hose is standard sized, designated as #6, 8, 10 and 12. Fittings are also sized to match. From memory that hose is #8.

6 or 8 is common on the liquid side, and 10 on the vapour side. 12 isn't common, it's a very large hose. Any AC specialist should have hose and fittings, and the crimp tool to make up the hoses. They will be different fittings and hose from hydraulics.

#8 = 13/32” = I now know what I’m looking for, so now I just need to find a good hose workshop. That should be doable, thanks all !

True, they would be able to do it. They delivered my condenser and filter/drier
I guess I’m just trying to avoid sending the hose to UK and back...
