Default AC works but leaks onto floor

On my 92 XJS coupe I recently had my AC repaired and it is so much nicer to drive now. Windows up, silence from the elements. But, it came with one more expense. The drain appears to be flowing into the car now. At first it was fine. Can anyone describe where the drain hose runs and is most likely to be plugged?

Good news is I thought it was leaking rain water...

There are two drain hoses, one each side of the gearbox. get under the car with a torch and look upwards each side of the forward half of the gearbox. You will see a plastic tube coming downwards, each side, which is the drain. They can be hard to see but they are there. Poke a stiff wire up each and very likely water will cascade out. having done that, a shot of compressed air up each is not a bad idea.

Yep, and wear eye covers, coz ya will get wet.

CAREFUL with the upward poking, so as not to upset the hoses inside the console. Common sense applies really.

Then, out withe carpets and dry it out, before the cancer sets in.

Good luck.

On hell, forgot, drink beer, before and after, it does help.

Thank you guys... I should be able to handle this. I'm thinking coat hanger wire is probably too stiff. Right?

No, it's about right.

Hope this helps you stopping the leak.

I tried using a wire to clean out my AC drainage problem and it didn’t work out. Drained but was still clogged and leaked again. So today I got serious. This is the way to attack this problem. One short piece of 7/8 tubing from Home Depot and a shop vac fitting shown here. They mate up perfectly and the tubing fits snuggly to the outlet port once the drain tube is removed from under the dash. Suck that thing clean on both sides and I can’t imagine anything being left up there. For good measure I turned it to blow and sucked again. Half gallon of water came out. Also sucked the drain tube down through the floor. If this leaks again I won’t know what else to do.

A Mitivac hand vacuum pump works just as well and can be used if you don't have access to an electrical outlet (like me - I park on the street )
