Adjusting the parking brakes on 95 XJS with outboard brakes
I need help. My workshop manual from jagdocs only details the inboard brake system.
I just replaced the parking / hand brake shoes and need to adjust them before putting the wheels back on.
Again, these are the outboard brakes on the 95.
Can anyone give me the adjusting procedure?
Thanks,
Scott

Scott,
I'd really suggest that you buy the proper Jaguar Parts & Service manual that covers the late facelift cars with outboard brakes.
The shoes on the outboard are adjusted using the toothed adjuster that you replaced when fitting the shoes. Align the drum with the access hole in line with the adjuster (use a torch!) and then insert a screwdriver to turn the adjuster so that the shoes are just free when the handbrake is off. Check that pulling the lever 2-3 clicks is just locking the drum.
Good luck
Paul

Thanks Paul. That is about what I was going to do, but I appreciate your help.
Yes, I am ordering the right manual today. I didn't realize the one I have did not cover the newer style brakes. Anyway, I am trying to get it back to the upholstery shop by the weekend and waiting for the manual would prevent that.
Thanks again Paul.
