Air Problems in XJS 4.0
I have a 1994 XJS 4.0 that was my dads car before he passed. The air conditioner was out when I got the car. I took it in and had it checked yesterday and the compresser was unplugged and it was low on juice. They added some juice and pluged it in and it blew cool but not cold. The air seems to either be mixing with heat or not cooling right. It always blows cold on my feet and in the winter the heat works but not on your feet the air is ice cold. Any help??
Thanks
Scott

RE: Air Problems in XJS 4.0
Sounds like you have more than one problem.
Starting with the cold air on the feet: take off the passenger side (RH) center console cover. Do this by removing the vent and the trim piece will slide towards the engine and out. At the the top of the A/C unit you will see two identical electric motors. These control the vent flaps. Rap on them with the handle of a screw driver and see if causes the motors to kick in and flaps to change. You will need to replace these in time...big money for such a little motor.
Blowing cool but not cold: first, see what correcting the flaps does. You may have hot air mixing with the cold and killing the effect. Otherwise, you will need to throw some gauges on it and let us know what the pressures are. Without that info we are just shooting in the dark.
