Default AJ6 3.6L Twin Turbo

*BACKSTORY* So i just got an XJS inherited and the engine has been sitting for the last 15-20 years.

However this is gonna be a one-off custom build but i never do thing halfway.

So the end goal is gonna be an 3.6L I6 AJ6 engine from 1987 with a twinturbo setup making around 500 Engine HP.

After doing some research it seems that there are no off-the-shelf forged internals for the AJ6 or AJ16 so after having some talk with Wiseco,JE,CP and AutoVerdi it seems i might have the option to have them custom fabricate the pistons and rods for me. *CRAZY EXPENSIVE*

The recipe will be the following

*3.6L Stock Crankshaft
*Forged Pistons
*Forged Conrod
*Cometic or Athena Headgasket
*ARP Bolts
*Custom made Xtreme clutch Twindisc Clutch kit
*2x Garret GTX2860 Turbos
*Custom made Exhaust manifolds
*Custom made Intake Plenum
*Haltech Standalone ECU
*E85

I hope you will be along for the ride.

AutoVerdi had about 5 months before they have the time to manufacture the rods and i'm still in talks with suppliers for Pistons.

Have you thought about the factory supercharged engine as an alternative? It might be cheaper and easier to make the 500 BHP by starting with one of those?
Either way, great fun and good luck.

Yeah i have thought about sourcing a AJ16SC but i have not found one in Sweden where i live.

This is mainly to do some fun and use it to promote some cool stuff for my dynoshop.

It's gonna be expensive but fun when it's all done

Streetnation,

I don't know if there would be any value to you, but perhaps you might want to contact Jaguar Heritage to understand if they can provide you with any info on the 3.6 twin-turbo that they originally built back in the 80s?

Cheers

I have a 4.0L AJ16SC running on a test stand with harness and ECM and a set of weld up exhaust manifolds for a turbo project I'm not going to get too. DM me if you interested, I'm on the East Cost of USA very near to the port of Elizabeth so shipping would be practical.

There's a forum member who turbo'd a later version of the engine, 4.0 AJ16, might be of some help:
