Good info here. I think my FOB is bad as I tried new batteries and still nothing. I could care less at this point about the alarm or auto door unlocks, I just want the beeping to stop. I have jumped to another post about how to disconnect the alarm as they had a nice picture of the exact set up I have in the passenger side rear panel and am now trying to figure out how to unplug that connector without breaking something. From reading other posts it sounds complicated programming a new FOB so would be more than happy just disconnecting the alarm. Thanks again.

Switch the valet switch to off, Is the RED LED near the switch or on the cigar lighter ? Are the last 6 vin numbers higher than 188105 ?
See other post. I think trying a new remote is better that taking the car apart. But your car ....

If after all this and still a problem I can email you my instruction book PDF

You know, I've been following all these posts and nothing has worked for me to program new remotes. My 93 xjs was built in September of 1992. The instructions, in Jaguar's Model Year Update 1993, don't reflect these posts. My valet switch is located on the steering column. It does not designate an 'on' or an 'off' position. the instructions in my update call for disconnecting the alarm backup battery as well as the main battery negative. However, no where do i find exactly how to disconnect the alarm battery, which by the way, is not dead, but well hidden at the alarm ecu (right rear fender well). Very frustrating would be an understatement.

I would also like to ask this.Am I supposed to rip out my entire antenna assembly along with the ecu, bat, shock assembly, etc., just to disconnect the alarm battery? Also, in order to determine what is on or off on the valet (rocker) switch, is off the breaking of the circuit or the making of the circuit thru the switch?????? You know it could be either one if you think about it and going thru the entire wiring diagram to determine this is absurd.

I too have a 93 built in 92 XLS. Ninety two had inboard rear brakes and my 93 has inboard rear brakes. But the 93 were supposed to have outboard brakes! So your frustration with the locking system is normal and recognized!. When it comes to fuel pumps that's a two Valium job
You found the battery in the right side of the trunk. That's the battery that makes the alarm system work. There are two screws that hold the alarm system and battery in the trunk compartment. When you remove these screws the battery should slip out and disconnects at the terminals. I would suggest battery replacement, because most older batteries will indicate voltage, but die under load. I could not find a "Jag Size" battery so I went with one twice the size but the same electrical rating. The same goes for the batteries in the remotes. Brighton all contacts on the remotes and the trunk system battery (most important) , After replacing the batteries, lower one window in the car (in case the car locks and won't reopen) and try your remote.. The door should lock. Click the remote again and the car should open. I think the Valet is on when depressed forward. To test get in the car lock the car from inside open the door, if the car alarms the valet is on.
When I got my car the alarm system did not work, The above is what I basically did to get it to work.

I own a 93 XJS. The previous owner removed the entire security module in the trunk. First, it was eating up voltage and draining the battery. It was rusty from water leakage of the antenna. The one-button fob for the security system never worked, I was told. Now everything is manual. No hassle with beeping sounds. 5 iterations to re-set. So, if anyone wants to buy a 93 security module, I have one. I don't know if it even works. Along with the single fob.

Dear Eaa:
As the proud owner today of a 1992 XJS V12 Convertible, where manuals did not come along through the dealer, I would be very appreciative of a pdf of the security system information. Was purchased through GR Auto Gallery in Grand Rapids MI, who are certainly good to work with, but manuals didn't come when they purchased it. They are going to check previous owner, but I'm not hopeful.
Thanks

93 was a slightly odd year. Early 93 models had the "19k" alarm system fitted as standard. I'm not sure if this was the same as the optional alarm fitted to the 92 and earlier cars but it does have a backup battery so Malc4d's suggestion may work.
Later 93 cars have the Jaguar factory alarm system which does not have a backup battery but the FOB's can still be reset. Forum member Spikepaga describes it in this video.
