Hi guys,
I would like to beg a favour please:
I know the ALBS light goes through a test sequence on turning ignition on and flickers accordingly but according to my handbook it should also be illuminated on when cranking the engine (ignition position 3). When you next start your XJS would you please check if your ALBS warning light is on when cranking (that is after it has done its self test). This might just help me track down an issue I have with my car (1990, 3.6, manual coupe).
Many thanks,
LeeP

I have a 93 XJS. The ABS light comes on when starting. Stays on for a few seconds, then goes off. If the light stays on, you have other issues. This happened to me when I got the Jaguar in 2013. My problem areas were both front ABS sensor cables had to be replaced and the entire ABS brake accumulator was replaced, later on. It took a year to track down these two gremlins..
Replacing the entire ABS/brake accumulator resolved the light constantly on issue. It was an expensive costing replacement project. Good luck with your Jag.. Mert

Thanks guys - responses much appreciated.
I have been checking all the standard issues but no joy so far.
The reason for the query was that according to my wiring diagram there is supposed to be a 12V feed to pin 19 of the ALBS ECM when the starter is cranked (constant 12V feed goes to pin 2 with ignition on to feed the system). My handbook states that the ALBS warning light should be constantly lit when engine is cranked (that is after the brief test flash) so I assume the feed to pin 19 causes this. The thing is that I have 12V feed to pin 19 all the time the ignition is on (cranking or not) so am beginning to wonder if I have a crossed wire somewhere which is causing the light to be constantly on.
The response from bullittandy seems to confirm the ALBS warning light does come on during cranking so I'll investigate the wiring.
Cheers,
LeeP

Thank melhookv12. I have the check codes but as the ALBS warning light is continuously on I never get the chance to identify the error code. Will investigate for a wiring fault.
Cheers,
