Default All lights replaced

Thought you guys might like this, I found every bulb part number on this forum, some took some real work to replace. Anyway, this is what a completely replaced dash looks like. (I don't do LED's on older cars BTW.)

Picture of the instrument binnacle please.

I am still on the fence whether to LED or not to simply because I don't want the hassle of replacing going forward but I know the wavelengths aren't the same and colours tend to look quite different - the warning lighrs in the binnacle are a classic example since they themselves are coloured and using the wrong LED behind them will not be a good thing. I watched a vid where somebody demonstrated the problem - I'll see if I can find it - this problem also impacts rear / marker and indicator lights which have coloured lenses.

I take it this was with the dimmer at max.

I have replaced the trio computer bulbs to LEDs. I got the screen to match up to the original color, but I couldn’t do the same with the buttons, so I went with blue.

The amount of heat the OEM incandescents gave off would help me believe that it would limit the lifespan of that unit. That screen would get ¡muy caliente!

I also replaced my red handbrake bulb with a very bright LED. There aren’t LED bulbs that will fit easily, so I Dremel’ed one up and got it to work. I did not want to do that to the others. A lot of work, and high risk of damage.

Here is the binnacle as requested, I was out of town this weekend. I can turn some more lights on as well. One of the things that really helped was getting all of the dust out these bulb sockets and fascias. (It is turned up all the way.)

OK here goes.

JLM11856 cigar lighter

DAC6477 instrument panel and warning lights

DBC11380 rear opera lamps and external markers

JLM12199 trip computer

JLM293 trunk lamps interior (festoon bulbs also used in puddle lamps)

JLM9593 dash switches also shifter

LHD5180AA for trip computer surround

DBC11381 additional instrument cluster

Climate control T3 Neo Wedge bulbs - find them on amazon

Bulbs for Apline

Standard mini led's on circuit board in my case a few bad connections that I fixed.

For LED ( Taken from another thread, and these do work, I tried them first)

I bought all of my bulbs from; https://www.superbrightleds.com/

For all of the 17 small indicator bulbs (turn signals, warning lights etc.) I used bulb #74-WHP.
https://www.superbrightleds.com/more...#/attributes/1

These are "Cool White" bulbs and are much brighter than the original incandescent bulbs. The "Cool White" color does alter the turn signal color a bit, going from green to a green-blue appearance but for me it is ok. If you really want the turn signals to stay green then order the #74-GHP.

For the 5 Instrument Cluster back-lights I used bulb #WLED-NW6.

EDIT: Suppliers for me, Jagbits SNG, and Amazon. No one source had every bulb.

HI! I'm trying to relight my '96 XJS climate controls. As suggested here, I got some t3 neo wedge bulbs off Amazon, but, alas, they don't fit. As you can see in the attached picture, they look the same at first, but the new one (on right) has a slightly bigger glass bulb than the original (on left) and so it doesn't fit.

Has anyone found a replacement that they actually have used, and could you please tell me the brand, part number, or whatever so I can get some of that exact kind? Thank you very much!

Back when there was a Radio Shack, what I did was I removed the bulbs and replaced them with something that fit. Can't say for sure what it was, but I do remember that you can release the bulbs by unbending the wires at the base.

You can also just measure the size of the bulbs (in mm) and find them on eBay. Again, you'll reuse the base?

Good news and bad news. I followed Vee's advice and bought some bulbs without bases, and carefully took the old bulbs out of their plastic bases and threaded the new bulbs into the old bases, and this worked great! Thank you Vee! And the exact bulbs I used:
CEC Industries #8111 Bulbs, 14 V, 0.91 W, Wire Terminal Base, T-1 shape (Box of 10)
which I found on Amazon.

Bad news: In the spirit of one step forward, two back, I have lost two of the old bulbs, which I need so I can reuse the bases. Much worse, I also managed to lose the fan knob, and the little rectangular knob for the slider thing over the radio. Gone. I've been searching for weeks.

So (and yes, I'll post this in parts wanted) does anyone have any burned out little tiny bulbs for the climate control in a '96 XJS, AND a fan control knob (with the little fan symbol on it) and a slider-above-the-radio knob? Thank you,

-mB
