Default Alternator replacement

I was wondering if the alternator replacement job on my 95 xjs 6 cylinder is the same as on a 96 xj6?

What is best to be removed to get the alternator out?

TIA,
Jomo

I would think so, same engine layout, different body.

Mine was simple, as its right there in your face when you look at the LH side of the engine, BUT, your market gets some weird stuff like air pumps etc that we dont, so maybe a tad more stuff to shift.

Yeah, I have an air pump right on top of that alternator. I suspect there is no problem removing that?
Also disconnecting the air filter container will probably help as well.
Thanks,
Steve

I just did mine and decided to remove the air pump and air filter. It is possible to remove the alt. without removing other stuff but IMO it makes the job much easier to get everything out of the way. Also a good time to do some cleaning.

Default Alternator is out! My 1st repair on this car!!

Although I initially hard a very hard time removing the lower alternator bolt, this morning with a clear head I easily got it out.

This was the first repair I had to make on this Jaguar and it was fairly easy!
