ANTI LOCK Warning Light

Hello Everyone,
I'm Jerry Moore, an old new guy, who has enjoyed my 1995 4.0 XJS Convertable since 2005. We retired to Palm Coast Florida @ 5 years ago and enjoy cruising in the sunshine. Like most, I have overcome some problems with my baby, and with the help of the ones who have gone before, I will overcome yet another problem. My ANTI LOCK warning light illuminates after starting and accelerating through @ 15 mph. It stays on until the ignition is turned off, and then stays off till the next time I pass @ 15 mph. My i903 shows code C1065. I have cleared the code. But it reappears the next time I pass @ 15 mph. I have searched the threads and have not found an exact match for my issue. Any help or advice is most appreciated.

Jerry,
The ABS fault code only resets when driven above 15mph. By the light re-illuminating at 15mph, it means the fault is still there.
Establish what the ABS fault code is, and therefore the problem, by performing the ABS Blink Test. Then we can establish where the problems lies.
Good luck
Paul

The earlier system can be checked via blink codes. The later system can only be checked with a Jaguar PDU scanner.

Thanks for the information on the ABS update. Mine is triangular and I have gotten the iCarSoft i903 scanner. The only code I get is the C1095. BTW, I have not gotten the ABS motor to run. I have verified power to the multi-pin connector and cleaned the connector. It's as if the motor is not getting a run signal. Any suggestions?

You might be having problems with the solder joints on the ABS control module. I followed the instructions in this thread and was able to remove the ABS control module, cut it open, re-flow solder in a couple of places, and RTV the control module back together. Light has not come back.

I found that the terminals inside the plug on the motor side were pushing back and not making good contact when i plugged it into the socket. The rubber sleeves that retain the terminals inside the plug deteriorate and allow the pushback. You can disassemble the plug to check that out. A retainer just clips on the wire end of the plug, then you can pull the wires with terminals out of the plug. The design of the plug is poor, and I don't know of anyone who has found a suitable replacement. I guess you could epoxy everything in place inside the plug, making sure the terminals are in the proper location.
If you can find someone with an operational PDU, it can run a test to ensure that the motor runs, and that the connection is good without driving the car. It saved me a lot of time on my car.

Jerry,
You'd originally mentioned that the fault code was C1065, which was a bit confusing. Now you've confirmed it's a C1095, as you probably know it relates to an ABS Motor circuit failure. Members have mentioned both the solder cracks and the connector problems.
Search the X300 & x308 forums for lots of posts on this issue and suggested remedies.
Cheers

And I'm taking about the Jaguar dealer PDU. It allows testing of the motor drive circuit.

I can’t say I’ve ever tried this feature out with my PDU on my 1996 XJS.

Hello All,
A final update to followers of this thread. It's Fixed! Thanks to the help and information gleaned from you all. I was able to remove the ABS module without disconnecting the brake lines. Sent it to AutoTech in MA, who sent it back saying they could not repair it even though the exact part number was mentioned on their website. Next, I sent it to Module Master in Moscow, ID. They performed as advertised and returned a professional, warrantied rebuild for $150 + shipping. Very pleased and highly recommend. BTW, they also repair displays, modules, and various other electronic items. Reversed the disassembly and whala, no more "ANTI LOCK" warning light, and no more C1095 DTC. A key bit of information in resolving my problem was learning that mine is a 1995.25 model and that extensive brake system changes were included in that mini-facelift.
Again, many thanks,
Jerry
