Any Ideas?
I recently had to recore the Radiator in her XJS. I found this coil behind the grill. NO hi-tension lead though, the wires came from behind the Compressor for the Air Cond. which hasn't worked since the P.O. sold the car to us. Any Ideas? The color code is White with a black stripe, and the other is just white. The last pict. proves the car is ours, a little forlorn.

OB, you are becoming the master, well done. Drinks on AL, I'll have 2.
That coil is the "auxillary coil", and is wired to the "main coil" in the middle of the V. It is wired +ve to +ve. and -ve to -ve.
If, however, the main coil has had the upgrade fitted, then this coil is redundant. Quick way to find out, will the engine rev beyond 3500 without breaking down and misfiring???.
If so, then the main coil is the upgrade, if not, reconnect that coil and try again.
Your market has the low comp engine as in 11.5:1 ratio, we got the real deal, 12.5:1, and that 2nd coil is really needed.
