Default Anybody had their throttle cable refurbished?

Hey guys,

With the engine out and co, I've decided to hvave the lot rebuilt.

After looking at it, it looks rather 'anti-serviceable'. The bracket for the kick down switch, may be screwed on but the rest is all crimped.

Has anyone had their throttle cable incl. kick down switch bracket refurbed?

Cheers

Damien

Can you buy a new one? I bought one for the 6.0 and it was very reasonable.

On Jaguar Classic Parts it is NLA. So refurb required.

Assuming your car is RHD, Manners list them
Jaguar Partno_CBC5056_ACCELERATOR CABLE XJS H.E. RHD_David Manners Group

I recently bought a LHD one from them

I doubt that a refurb is practical. Tis a woven wire cable with in a sheath. Crimped ends on cable and sheath.

New seems to be the best course.

But, if NLA perhaps a bicycle or motor cycle shop might be of help.

I have few of unknown origin hanging around. Jaguar, not likely.

I did shorten the one in my car at the time of the conversion. It works well. Although the link at the throttle capstan is a bit cobbled.

Thanks for the link BUT it isn't totally correct as it doesn't look adjustable at both ends. The same part is offered by SNG for the XJ12 and there it is only locked around the pedastal where as mine is locked (screwed) around the pedastal AND above the gas pedal...

cable pix , TPS pic.

my kickdown is hydraulic, and it varies the internal pressure for shift speeds from the TV cable ,700R4.

I have had a cable built for me at a marine supply place. They reused the outer sheath and put new wire rope inside with appropriate crimps on the ends. Cost was a donation to the office slush fund.

rgp, that is the TV cable(throttle valve), it goes to the transmission, it varies internal pressure for shift speed and how hard/soft shift gears takes place, also kickdown!

it is the way GM makes there newer trans.700/4L60 etc, the older(400) ones used engine vacuum to accomplish shift speeds. kickdown was a seperate cable.

Sorry, hadn't noticed there had been answers... I for some reason don't get the update mails anymore...

Thanks for the link RGP but that would be a lot more than what I have been quoted here alone in transport fees...
