Anyone Install a Moto Lita MKIV Steering Wheel?
Just wondering if anyone on the forum has installed the Moto-Lita MKIV steering wheel in their XJS. If so, could you provide pictures? Thanks!

The steering wheel must be bought together with the 'boss' ie the central hub-like bit that fits onto the column to which the actual wheel is bolted. Motalita will sell you the correct boss for the car.
When you fit it, you will find that under the original wheel there is a central rod that runs down the middle of the column. This rod has a large white plastic nut on the end nearest the wheel. This is a vital part of the horn mechanism/electrical circuit. This nut and rod must be carefully withdrawn. Then you fit the motalita boss, then slide this rod back into the column.
BUT (unless motalita have changed their design, unlikely!) you must get someone to solder an insulated wire between the centre brass bit of the rod (the brass bit in the centre of the white plastic nut) and the actual contact for the live current on the Motalita horn push that spring fits into the centre of the boss. Unless you do this, there is no live electrical circuit between the central rod and the horn push. When you push the horn, it earths the circuit and the horn sounds. Without this vital bit of wire, the horn push is not live, so pushing it does nothing!
