They are difficult to find on the various search engines because the name is so similar to the standard XJS, plus people get confused (as above) and think you are asking about an XJR......
If you're desperate to get an XJR-S, I suspect it would be easier to just ship one over from UK or mainland Europe. Then you can have pre-facelift or facelift, LHD or RHD. But not a convertible.
Sarc,
Unfortunately I don't think you'll find a "1996" XJS V12. In pure terms, there are only 3 1996-made 6.0 XJSs. One Coupe is owned by Jaguar and the 2 convertibles are in private hands. And I understand that in US model-year, the US didn't take any 1996-MY XJS V12s.

Steep money........... difficult to say what is a fair price for something so rare, with a very narrow potential market.
The last one I saw before this one was less than $20k for a 2 owner ~70k miles car.
I do understand and respect the idea of having something that is so limited (50 in total)
I always longed after one, but the reality is I think I'd feel much better spending half that and getting a pristine 96 6.0 V12........
That one sold. It was actually in Plainville, CT. I just got back from there picking up my XJS after having had a considerable amount of work done by a very nice and knowledgeable Jag guy. That was his personal car.
