Ask me them stereo questions!
Lately I have seen a few stereo questions pop up around here, so i figured I would make a thread for the purpose of answering you car audio, security, remote starts, bluetooth, gps, etc etc etc related questions in our Jag's.
I have been a professional car audio installer for many years, so if you have any 12v questions, feel free to ask.

My radio/CD player goes click click click in time with the revs when in radio mode. Does not happen on the CD when it is playing. What can I do to stop it please?

If that doesn't work, run a new constant (12v) line from the stereo directly to the battery.
Guess I forgot to ask, are you running any amps?

Definitely make a new ground for the antenna and radio. What you are getting is called "engine whine" Basically the ground for either or has gone bad in the vehicle thus the outer shielding on the antenna wire isnt doing its job, it is receiving EMI (electro magnetic interference) from somewhere in the vehicle. To make the shielding protect against EMI it needs to be grounded at the radio, and antenna mast
A simple way to check if that is the problem is to take a scrap piece of wire, touch the outer most part of the metal antenna plug and attach it to the negative post on the battery

You do or do not get sound now?
Can you go into more detail about how you went about replacing the speakers?
Did you run new wires to each individual speaker from the head unit, or did you use the existing wiring?
Were the stock speakers playing sound? Or did you replace them because they were not?

I got a muffled sound, so replaced all the door speakers. Sounds OK to me but the wife says just don't sound as good as before. I replaced with better speakers than the stock speakers. Thanks

Speaker sound
The new speakers were great.

-Last year, I replaced all four stock speakers in my '89XJS with 6.5" round Pioneer speakers, and the sound improvement was so good, I almost kept the stock cassette radio system in the car, but I had already bought the Pioneer deck with CD,MP3, and USB ports.
The new speakers were great.

Honestly, it is going to sound 100% better if you opt for a new head unit and wore it directly to the speakers, and if there is a stock sub, leave it wired to the stock amp

Jake,
This isn't Jag related, but, I thought I'd throw it out there. My DD is an '08 Jeep Wrangler. I am wondering if there is a way to disable the horn honk feature when you lock the car with the remote fob. I have never liked that on any car and I hate it when it's my car. I get home late a lot of nights, and I hate disturbing the neighbors. I don't really care if it also disables the alarm, nobody pays any attention to them anyway. You audio guys always seem to know about alarms.
Thanks, Terry

Re: Terry and the honking jeep.
That is a programming thing the dealer can do in jus a minute. They should do it fro free... But they have to plug their computer into the car, then they can disable tht option.
I used to have a Sebring as a company car, and had them do the same thing.

Hey Terry, I have a '12 Rubicon. The honk function can be disabled in the "personalize menu" section using the toggles on the front, left side of the steering wheel. If your '08 has a menu option, use the arrows to see if you have the same drill down.
Good luck!

A little late to this party but hopefully I can get some help. I've got an 03 STR and would like to be able to stream audio from my phone or an ipod. Is there any way to do it other than an FM modulator. Is there a way to use the CD changer port by chance.
