Default Radio Security Code Help

My dad just bought a 1991 XJS and the guy he bought it from disconnected the battery and does not know the security code to the radio in the car. after taking the car to the jag dealer and paying over 100 bucks to get the code, it does not work. the car has only 5 preset buttons on the radio and the code we received has a "6" as one of the numbers which does not exist on the radio. Anyone have this issues/ resolve it?? anyway to bypass the code, attempting to keep the radio stock in the car

My '89 XJS did not come with a CD player but I would like to install one.
I think my '90 may have had one but it is missing.

I know I could go aftermarket but I would prefer to use original Jaguar units.

Does anyone know the first year the CD player was available for the XJS?
What would be the part/model numbers for the correct head unit and CD player.

Pictures of these units would be very helpful.

Thanks!

Mark

Thanks Jake
Have 1993 XJS Coupe, installed radio (Power Acoustik Model: PTID-8920B) Cannot get it to activate antenna motor. Jaguar radio has 12 active connections on switch. Eight for four speakers, one Purple (P) for power, one lights,White and red (WR) One Yellow and Green (YG) and one Purple (P) for the antenna. The Power Acoustic has one lead marked Antenna. With all power on touching the Radio antenna lead to any of the four non speaker wires produce no action on the antenna. (This lead is extra to the antenna lead for signal)

Found problem. No 12vts going from radio to antenna. Connector problem. Connector replaced; problem solved.

I have an '88 with the AJ8700 unit. It's eaten a cassette (fancy bluetooth cassette for pairing with my phone) for the second time, and I think it has to go. I know a standard DIN head unit will fit just fine, and I've found a few offerings from JVC, Sony, and Pioneer that I've taken a shining to - MP3, and AAC codecs, multiple inputs (front and rear USB!) hands-free calling functionality, and the all-important feature (for some of them at least) to change the display color so it at least kind of looks like it belongs there. (Kenwood had some nice offerings, too, but the controls are apparently so unintuitive that all I could think of while reading the reviews was Jeremy Clarkson trying to start a KTM X-Bow.)

Speakers are also on the agenda. A lot of sources state that my maximum depth is 2" front and rear, but there appears to be some (usually vague) disagreement. The front I'm not concerned about as none of the 5.25" speakers have exceeded 2" mounting depth, but I'm planning on doing 6x9" in the rear, modifying what I need to in an effort to make it look stock as I go, and I have two questions:

1) How much room do I have back there? Is it more than 3"?

2) How the hell does one actually get to the rear speakers? Most of the instructions, which have been hard to come by, include some fairly destructive steps.

Well, I guess I'm just going to have to do this the old fashioned way...

If there's no chance of failure, there's no value in success.

Default 1993 XJS Jaguar convertible speaker replacement.

I kinda doubt that I'm the first to ask this, but I didn't find it on any previous post. So, what does it take to get the rear passenger speaker out? The pneumatics for the roof it in the way. Or, maybe my question should be is it worth all the effort? My speakers are all deteriorated. I DO NOT want to cut or modify just for speakers if I don't have to. I have loosened up the two front screws on the base for the pneumatics and it does move a little, but I really don't want to push my luck moving it too much.

Default Anybody here?

I'm new to this forum and when I saw "Jake21" requested all the stereo questions be brought to him, I figured I would give a try. Did Mr. "Jake 21" give it up? No big deal...

He appears to have left the building. Looks to me like you got it sorted out, judging by your other post, or I'd have tried to offer what little I know - which is tragically next to nothing. It usually entails removal of the most stealthy fasteners known to man and the shoulder belt mount, then [SCENE MISSING] assembly is the reverse, and enjoy your new speakers!

Default Stereo is installed.

Stargazer XJS, Thanks for stepping in! I posted this question on the XJS forum and had a lot of views but I think if anyone has had to deal with the rear passenger speaker, they just didn't have the heart to tell me " good luck with that one". I hope all's well with "Jake21"!

Default replaced front end unit, what to do about fiber optic?

I have a 2006 x-type with the premium sound system, no nav. Put a new JVC KW-R710 unit in. Correctly connected all the wiring, but no sound. Trying to run through OEM amp. Obviously, no fiber optic port on the JVC.

Jake:

I just bought a 02 X Type with the premium sound and want to switch out the radio and speakers. I plan on getting the system from Crutchfield. I am kind of handy and have read up on how to pull door panels. I plan on direct wiring the speakers to the radio. Can you make a suggest a good double din head unit and speakers that will install without too much trouble? I am not now planing on an amplifier although that might be a future project. Thanks
