Default Aussie Cabriolet's - 4 seaters?

I've noticed that most Aussie Cabriolet's for sale are 4 seaters. Someone told me that it was an Aussie option. (I thought Princess Di's was the only 4 seater made). Interesting. Plus also it appears that with the 4 seater, the top will not stow correctly. Comments.

Mmmmm, I thought it was a "normal" Cabriolet thing, and the Convertible was the 2 seater (with cubby box etc), with 4 seats as an option.

I am fuzzy on that now, so if I am wrong, so be it.

I know it's not an "authority", but Jaguar XJS - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In the XJ-SC, the coupé's rather small rear seats were eliminated making it only a 2-seat car

Mmmmmm, did some more digging, and YES, the originals Cabs were 2 seaters. Jaguar dealers offered a kit to retro seats into that area. I remember a Cab here that was a 2 seater, and he had the kit fitted (had 2 small kids at the time), and it was done by a trimmer here somewhere. I really took little notice at the time.

Another I briefly saw, a looooong time ago, was a "private import" from the UK, and it was a 4 seater.

So maybe the option was taken up more than we think, dunno.

Followed this up some more today, with a guy I worked with at Jaguar. He sold these when they were new, so is like me, oldish.

The Cabs ALL came as 2 seaters, with a 2 lid box set up in the rear. The conversions were very common, and Jaguar UK did do a "kit" as such for them, and VERY expensive. This led to all manner of seat fitments to them. Some used the Coupe base, and a modified backrest seat, due it having to be lower profiled.

The issue now with them is the seat belt anchor points, coz the Cab never had them, so any fitted at that time were not required to have an "engineers ticket" stating whatever. Here is my state, the rego mob will not pass them without that ticket. Most he has seen do not have rear seat belts, or at best lap belts only.
