Automatic Seat belt problem

Automatic Seat belt problem
The automatic seat belt on my '89 Jaguar XJ-SC ( LH - drive) just jammed ans stopped working. I have no idea how to fix nor does anyone in Dubai, UAE except the dealer who will charge me about $450 just to look at it
Even the dealer has no parts for this and i'm in a tight corner cos it's the driver's seat belt and compulsory to wear. The passenger side works perfectly well.
After a lot of research, i came to understand that passive restraint assembly for the automatic seat belts includes:-
1) Motor and Anchorage Assembly - part number HHE1300AB (previously BBC2186) although that might be for the RH and costs $1113.00
2) The Track - BAC4722 that costs $471.00
3) The Docking and Proximity Switch is no longer available
That will put me back at least $2000 just in parts that no one here seems to know if it is the problem or not.
I managed to find the whole assembly for $350 but its of the passenger side and i do not know f it will fit.
That's a huge cost that comes with no guarantees and sadly i can drive the car or pass MOT without the seat belt.
Can anyone please guide me , cos i'm not a mechanic and understand very little in the field?
Any advice, experiment, solution i could try before making such as dish out would be much appreciated.

I also found universal three point kits on Summit Racing from $52 on up, but I'll have to take rather a lot of stuff off to install them.
