Auxilary Air Valve hoses

Auxilary Air Valve hoses
Hello,
While poking about the engine compartment, tracing vacuum lines to make sure all is well, I discovered that on the black hose from my AAV leading to the air filter housing had a second little vaccum line coming from it. That line led to the V of the engine and was sitting open...not good.
So, after some research I read about these little vacuum lines running to a port on the underside of the LH air intake manifold just beneath the butterflies. Pretty simple fix...so while fidgeting with it I broke the little plastic 90° bend piece...darn. I also discovered that there was no port on the underside of my LF air intake manifold, weird.
I removed the LH air filter housing, and removed the large black hose from my AAV. I installed a closeable 90° brass valve and reinstalled the hose, connecting the little thin black hose to one of the two upper ports on my LH air intake manifold. Re-attached the air filter housing, fired up and idled fine.
My questions...Was this port eliminated from the 86' XJS? Is it safe to run that hose from one of the top vacuum ports on the LH air intake manifold? My diagrams show one big hose into the air filter housing, no second little hose running to the lower LH intake, like in other descriptions I've read.
Thank you,
Matthew

If we're on the same page that small vacuum hose coming off the large AAV hose should go to the distributor cap as part of the distributor vent system. A second hose from the cap goes to the left side of the engine bay ad has a small filter attached....right about where the diagonal brace meets the left inner fender
