On the 6.0l, 90% of all available torque is at the crank from idle onwards. 90%! But then again, 90% from nothing is still nothing...

so being i kinda like pullin away -or passing quickly i set my rear gear ratio with a 3.73, and 700R4 30% overdrive , gives me a final ratio of 2.60, to be honest have never tried it for maximum top speed.
open top really has wind buffeting above 120 or so, starts to lose aerodynamics.

now my Camaro was clocked at 165MPH, 476" ,7.6L, BBC big block Chevy, geared for 200MPH, still pulling hard, but i'm not going there, might never come back,LOL!
.

to add i had the Camaro and the Jag XJS both at the same time 11yrs together, (and the lowly Mazda turbo), depending on how my mood was i could drive whatever!

for acceleration the BBC Camaro was top nuts, and top speed !

the jag would follow up as 150mph speeds.

BUT that sly little Mazda(with its big 2 rotor 1.3L)some out of this Universe 4 rotor engines showing up also, the sound is like a SPACE craft.
would out handle both the brutes, braking and cornering, and still give 160mph,
YUP today there are some fanatical rice rockets around the streets, we have in TEXAS some unbelievable fast Japanese cars, local guy was clocked at Texas mile 240 MPH Toyota 2JZ Supra.

Here in Minnesota these silly people actually arrest you if you go 100 mph or more. So no chance to find out how fast a car goes (unless you have a Smart ForTwo). In Germany they honk at cars going 100 mph until they get out of the left lane :-)

Dunno what country you call Germany, but here in Germany the average Autobahn speed is about 110 kph. Something like 80% are now limited to 120-130 kph depending on Autobahn and time.

You're unfortunately right Daim, the German Autobahns are getting slower. The sections with speed limits is one thing, what is worse is that the majority of the drivers nowadays just stick to left lane as soon as their speed approaches 130 kph.

But, a late evening on a empty stretch it's still great that it's allowed to floor it for more than a few seconds. The A7 north of Neumünster for example. Close the Danish border and thereby me....

And to the topic: My tires are too old for continued high speed, but I have touched the 200 kph a few times, and it doesn't feel like it will run out of power soon...

I am talking about the Germany that has this sign (end of all limits) which means everyone goes crazy and goes as fast as they can. Last year my rental car only did 115 mph which meant I had do get out of the way.

True, 80-90% of the autobahn has a speed limit and the rest is clogged during the day. But at night you can still find those unlimited stretches and go 150 mph.

Just for the record, "I was told" (his quote NOT MINE) by the FHP any speed in Florida 20mph over the posted speed limit is considered reckless driving. He said depending on the MPH over was no less than $1K plus cost, lawyer and jail time, Also 100mph is a"guaranteed 30 days". Other states very , some more, some less. Google " reckless driving laws'
Update, reckless driving is a Class 1 Misdemeanor (most severe), 12mos. jail time, $2,500 fine + cost & representation/lawyer. This very's in most states, as said. Can only speak for the USA and what I read from PA, Virginia & Florida State Police/ HP.

Sorry, I'be lived here the last 21 years... And I'be been driving since 10 years... I know nearly all major Autobahns and have travelled nearly everywhere. When I am going 130 kph im the right hand lane (as you have to drive on the right) I am rarely overtaken. No matter if drin the day or at night. The only people who floor it are those who don't have Autobahns in their countries. Which is why 60% of the German population is pro speed limit...

My local Autobahn, the A27, has no limit between the Bremer Kreuz (Clover leaf cross between A1 and A27) and the Walsrode Dreieck (Triangular cross A27 and A7) - without any time limits. But even at night you can't get to a full speed anymore, as it is the main route from Southern Germany and Eastern Germany to the Ports of Bremerhaven and Cuxhaven.

The A1 has a general speed limit around Bremen of 120 kph. North of Oyten (towards Hamburg) the limit is lifted. But there are always jams, day and night, so you van forget that. A steady 100 mph (160 kph) is no problem. Past Groß Mackenstedt the A1 is then limitless between 8 pm and 6 am. Otherwise it is all 2 laned and 130 kph.

The A2 is congested too much to allow a higher speed. The A100 around Berlin even has some 60 kph limits.

I love high speeds. I always take my cars out at least once to see how fast it will go. Just out of curiosity. My XJ-S did 241 kph. My XJ8 3.2l will do 235 kph. My former C30 did 221 kph and my 960 managed 220. My parent's S80 will do 215. A loaned Toyota GT86 did 254 kph. But I only do it once because it takes for ever to find a day ideal to do it and at the same time, you can be unlucky and crash into another crashed car. Like on the Nurburgring, just on public roads.

That sign basically means nothing nowadays. You can't use it and it will soon go.
