Default Battery dead, locked out of trunk 1995 xjs

I am locked out of my trunk and the battery is dead. 1995 xjs. The master key is not unlocking it. Can someone post a picture of where I can hook up a charger in the engine bay?

want to avoid drilling a hole behind the license plate but might end up doing that. Thank you.

stran0020,

Just connect a charger to the +ve abd -ve terminals on the upper part of the firewall. They have little rubber caps on them.

Good luck

Paul

stran0020,

That's one of the terminals. I can't remember if that's the positive or a negative.

If you look on the other side, you'll see 2 terminals next to each other. One is +ve, one is -ve. Again, can't remember which is which. Put a multimeter on and you'll probably work it out. I can't beleive your battery will be zero volts.

(See attached pic for 2 terminals on Right Hand side of bulkhead. Remember my car is RHD so you'll see brake pedal housing in shot)

Cheers

Paul

Have you taken off your rear license plate? In many cases theres a hole there where you can pop the trunk open yourself?

Thank you for the responses. I was able to open the trunk by using the existing license plate hole on the right hand side and sticking a long skinny screw driver in. The trunk popped right open and did not have to drill any holes. This was on a 1995 xjs not sure if this method would on older vehicles.

Please use the key in the doors and boot lid at least every few months.
Stuck locks take some patience to get moving from sitting unused.

The large output terminal on your alternator should go direct to +ve on the battery, if you can access it easy.

Thanks for the info. ref the hole behind the license plate. I have a 96. So it's probably the same. Good to know for future reference.
