Ok I made a bit of progress today. I got a reading in 10A mode of 13.52 so i removed 3 fuses from the main fuse box and it dropped to 5.96. I then removed all the other fuses from that box as well as the ones from the two small boxes under the hood. After that I get a reading of 16.52. I then figured out by opening the drivers door the reading dropped back down to 5.96 with no fuses from the main boxes.
I love that red one you got, looks great. I don't think they put the leaper on the hood in 1988. I kind of like it without it, because it draws a little less attention from the younger crowd.

Nah, Jag never put a leaper on the XJ-S, I got that from Bill Tracy in the US waaaaay back. Love the look, as do other "rice car drivers". The Jag has that stance that says it all, NOTHING to prove, get too close and this Cat bites. Cruising at 190kph in our outback ALL day gives one a whole new perspective of "Grand Tourer".
Those readings are ODD. That meter should NOT read past 10amps, it should zero itself if slightly over that, and blow the internal fuse if WAY over that setting. You should only be seeing VERY low amps, such as 1/2 an amp (0.50) at most. That sort of drain has me thinking you have an alternator going direct to earth, either via the regulator pack, or a diode. Also at that draw you should get a very significant "spark" when dis-connecting and re-connecting the battery terminal. The other item could be a shorted battery +ve cable, but that usually ends up in an electrical fire, and you dont have that. With a 13.5amp draw, that is the about the same as leaving the headlamps on the high beam circuit??.
I dont quite follow the door open alteration you are getting.
Is the battery being charged by the charging system in the car, as I suggested the other day. It could be as simple as a shorted alternator, or voltage regulator.
I would suggest finding a reputable auto electrician, and ask them to do an "amp draw test" on the car for you, just to get another opinion.

Yea I do feel a little over my head with this and think I need a professional to look at it. It sounds like your idea with the alternator drain might be right on point, so I will deffenetly pitch that idea to the mechanic.
Once I get it all figured out I will defenetly update this thread with my solution for future people facing simiar situations.
Thanks again for all the help everyone.
