Bent antenna, and a removed door panel, no more radio?

I took the door panel off my 86 like my previous post says and unplugged the speaker obviously, but in doing so, my car cover blew off and into my antenna, bending it.
It seems I have answered my own question here in finding that when using the balance function the passenger speaker plays just fine and the drivers side tends to play very softly, I think it may be time for a new speaker on that side.
That said, my radio does have a tape stuck in the deck and sometimes while driving the radio cuts out and plays static whirring to the exact tune that the engine is running, very strange and no idea why this is, any insight is helpful with this strange issue.
