Blower Control Different on 1993 Coupe
Removed the driver side defective Blower Assembly. and planned on a rebuild of the
Fan Motor. (Clean up armature and put in new brushes.) Three screws hold blower assembly together. Two obvious and the third inside the flap that remains closed.
Getting to the electronics, Darlington circuit is not a problem. Remove three pop rivets and it is in your hand. Soldering was poor: puddles of solder. But the big thing it does not follow either of the schematics posted on "The Jag Lovers by Alan" or the Jaguar repair manual. The power transistor is a 2N6264, the old type with two legs. All the drawings I see have three legs There is an electrolytic capacitor and a .01uf in the power transistor circuit, but there correct location was covered by the pooled solder. Completely different from Alan's. and Jaguar schematics. The capacitors (.01uf ????) and the electrolytic have no determinable values. (which I need!)
Before I realized that the circuit was not the same as Alan's I put 12v to it and it did run, but slowly. Don't know if its a motor problem or circuit problem or a weak power supply
I would like to talk to someone about the circuit, Particularly the values of the above mentioned capacitors and there location and value.. A schematic would be wonderful! I do not want to duplicate Alan's circuit because the passenger side blower works and I am concerned if I change to a different Darlington circuit the system will become unbalanced.
