Boge shocks - CAC9091 vs C29444
#41
Nobody knows
The corporate parentage is the same but whether or not the parts are the same, I can't say. With so much global manufacturing and distributing, and constant changes of corporate ownership, it's hard to really know what you are buying. So much stuff is 'label engineered' these days
I've seen listings for "Boge" and the picture clearly shows a Sachs label, and vice-versa. I've seen packaging that says "Sachs-Boge". A lot of vendors seem to use the two brands names interchangeably.
Even 20 years ago the consensus (perhaps unfair?) was to avoid Boge shocks made in Turkey and to seek out those made in Germany
Cheers

Hey Man...
I hear ya. Thanks. I want to do them all. Shocks and rear springs... Should. The car sat for like 12yrs. If I push down on the back and front, the car bounces around. The front clearly squeaks some. With the prices at the group named above it's not too bad a hit... I'm excited to do it and by this car. Can't help it.

It will transform the car. The squeaking is the rubbers/washers at the top of the front shock having gone home and allowed the shock rod to move against the bodywork hole. Boges always come with new washers and rubbers in my experience. I am talking about parts 4, 5, 6 ,7 in this diagram:

I have a new set of upper and lower ball joints, both sides, and the things I need to renew all of the FI connectors as, at this point, them thangs is just holding on.
You must know how excited I am about all of this.

The shocks may have given up the ghost 10,000 miles ago. They have 50k miles on them now, but I tell you, they were flat out dead. I can’t believe my car wasn’t screaming for new shocks a while ago.

according the Sachs website, if you love the Sachs shocks, get em now....they are “no longer available by the manufacturer.”

I dunno...
Was just talking to a great guy at Welsh Enterprises...
He gave me a GREAT deal on Woodhead Shocks, I was calling about Boge rear shocks.
He told me that Welsh and Woodhead had been going back and forth forth for a LONG time about the quality and character of these shocks. Said to be the exact of Boge. That Woodhead, in Turkey, used to work for Boge and bought all the tooling for the production from Boge etc etc
He sold me. I bought four... Am I a dope?
What's with this Woodhead brand?
Anyone have any thoughts?
