buzzing sound when connection battery charger
We have a 1995 Jaguar XJS, 6 cylinder. Been a good running car
I had the car connected to a trickle charger to keep the battery up.
I unplugged the charger for a few days (left it attached to the batttery). When I plugged the charger back in, I heard a buzzing sound that seemed to come from the front of the car.
what happened? Did I break something?

Can you give us any more information to go on.
Has/did the battery appear to charge ok?
Is there any sign of life when the ignition is turned on?
If so does the engine appear to turn over - what noises?
If not do any of the dash warning lights come on?
Do all the instruments on the dash appear ok ie the clock, the radio, the trip computer?
Let us know John. As a very first rough guess I'd be inclined to suspect a blown relay.

Update on situation
Thank you for responding to my issue. I have an update.
After taking a deep breath and letting a cooler head prevail, I sensed the buzzing was the power-connection relay ( I don't know what it really called) "struggling" to turn/click on. It couldn't because the battery's amperage was too low....at least that is what I think happened.
My remedy: Disconnected the battery from the car (removed the positive lead) and charged the battery by itself. After the battery was fullly charged, I reconnected -- all lights came on and the car started as usual. I let the car sit a week (no charging) and tried startig it the car again -- no problem
My new process.... charge the battery separately. We don't drive the car for heavy winter months so we'llhave to reset the clock now and then.
