A/C compressor clutch

A/C compressor clutch
While driving the other day I began to smell a foul burning odor coming from the engine....I popped the hood and could not locate a problem even though the smell was still there. When I returned home it was evening and I popped the hood again, but this time I noticed occasional sparks coming from the AC compressor clutch. I looked closer and noticed that the clutch was mangled and bobbling about on the compressor. When the car is running the loose clutch causes the whole motor to vibrate slightly. Would it make more sense to replace the compressor or just the clutch. Thanks. There is a picture attached which shows where the problem is.

I had the same thing happen a couple months ago. I believe they can be repaired, but, I chose to replace the compressor. I bought a new aluminum compressor from O'Reillys for about $325, exchange. The aluminum ones are 15 or so lbs lighter and a tiny bit smaller for what that's worth. I also replaced the smog pump, belts etc.
