Camber measurements, rear

I don't have the setting link tools or whatever they are called that are mentioned in the maint manual, but just setting on level ground, I get
LH: -1.25* camber
RH: 0* camber
Spec says -3/4* +/- 1/4*
I wouldn't think that amount of camber variation would have caused the inner tire wear I mentioned on the old tires, but i have no idea when the wear occurred, maybe before some alignment correction, I will have to keep an eye on it once the car is decently operational.
Question: The manual mentions adding or removing shims between the U-joint mount and the disc to adjust camber angle. Where is good place to get said shims if i need them?
Question: Does anybody use that setting tool, or do you just adjust based on setting on level ground? I assume that setting tool just sets a specified ride height correlation between control arms?
Thanks,
Doug

I did mine on a level floor with wooden wheel stands so that the weight of the car will be on them giving me enough room to crawl under the car. I have 3 shims on one side and 4 on the other to bring it to within specs. The clossest I could get mine was 0 +/- degrees and that works for me. After about 1000 miles of driving at pretty high speed, I am not seeing any abnormal tire wear. U-joints were in good condition.

I have used it a lot . Mostly initial setup on projects before going to a regular alignment shop for a four wheel alignment, and also checking for potential problems.

Shows how I made a very inexpensive camber guage which is extremely accurate. Basically all you need is a length of ally square tube and a cheap digital angle guage from Amazon etc, ebay etc:

As a Racer I change camber based on track I’ll be racing at and the tires I’ll be using. Bias ply tires call for less camber than Radial tires but radial tires break away with less warning.
Tight corners like Most of Elkhart Lake really don’t benefit from the bias ply, but at long corners like the Carousel and turn 14 the the warning of bias ply allows me to remain on the edge throughout the whole corner. Without that warning. I’m just not as confident to push the radials to their limit and hold it there.
As I age my reactions are a bit slower and it’s easy to appreciate the warning that bias ply offers over Radial. Some of that may simply be from not racing as often and getting less exposure.
