Default CatCooler Radiators

Hello,

The old Concour queen needs a dose of reality and I'm going through and re-doing the cooling system. The OE rad has never been touched, the car runs "cool", but I get an occational nudge on the upper "N", so gutted she gets!

Originality aside, I've had a great luck with the Ron Davis stuff in some of my other Jags, and saw the "Super Duty Catcooler" (still not a one-pass), which looks interesting and the price is good too.

Anyone used these and / or have other suggestions?

I suppose I will go with 190 stats, but lower the aux switch temp. Don't really want to add coolant filters, but thoughts there too.

Thanks all..

Jeff

I have a CatCooler Radiator. At one time I also had my hands on the BeCool Radiator. An added bonus of the aluminum radiator is that it is ~20lbs lighter. When I had all 3 I measured the weight and size of all 3 radiators, and the BeCool and CatCooler(Wizard) were about the same weight, and all where about same thickness, but the number of fins varied. I will have to find my documentation on it.

The CatCooler is top notch quality. I believe you made a great choice. I decide on the CatCooler so I didn't have to create custom hoses to use the BeCool.

What I can't tell is if the Wizard has the push-on hose fittings?

Also, did you switch to electric fans or stick with OE?

Thanks for the feedback!

Spend money as you wish, of course, but IMHO you might be over-reacting to an ".....occational nudge on the upper "N"...." .

A CatCooler radiator sounds expensive to me.

I purchased dual electric fans, however I have not yet installed the radiator or the fans yet. The wizard/CatCooler has AN- Fitting on the radiator which you can purchase whatever style of connection you need. It comes with a fitting to work with the HE style screw connection. Due to the hoses not being cheap I had my local hydraulic shop make me some angled fitting that I can connect to AN Fittings.

Doug - The cooling system in my car has never been gone through / the radiator is likely plugged in some capacity as my occational nudge is not ambient nor driving style dependant, which tells me its time to R&R the radiator anyways and the Wizard is cheaper than OEM / I have not had good luck with re-cores in my area.

I'm effectively taking the front of the motor apart anyways, new pump, belts, t-stats and replacing the alternator, as she's barely putting out 12 volts.

No time like the present and then she's good for another chunk..

Thanks, Wizard noted that both fittings are supplied with their unit, perfection..
