I have a1992 facelift and the belts are not serpentine... the thing cools great...
converted to Black Oem fan and a thicker Radiator from wizard cooling.. al. welded and drop in... No fuss
the OEM fan is different that the other one as was described ... even with the thicker rad. it was a perfect fit...
the thing to watch for is Places of "discoloration" /// ie steam leak...
I still have one and it is on my left bank coolant rail where the temp sensor is...
(they corrode and leak there) ( I will address that .... in a while )

l think that "serpentine" is being used a bit loosely. What is meant in this context is to describe a flat ribbed belt (in place of a V belt) rather than the true serpentine single belt weaving in and out driving multiple accessories. The xjs never ran a single serpentine while some other V12 jags of the same era did.

Hi Greg
Cheers!
She's all wrapped up for the Winter at the moment and I cannot even remember what those belts look like.
My biggest' Nightmare' is the thought of going 'Tripping' while running those Fans and finding the Battery is Flat and She won't Start.

If you are worried about starting
CDA 16V 20F Ultracapacitor Engine Battery Starter Booster Car Super Capacitor | eBay
that takes care of that worry

Hi Jonathan
While that's an interesting idea, I don't have any of those problems mentioned, so I'd rather not experiment with a piece of equipment that I know nothing about.
Its more a question of getting used to how much juice the Fans take out of the Battery and how well She starts again after switching her off.

Generic Parts Photos are Driving me Crazy!
When it comes to Buying Stuff for your XJS its often more Convenient, if you can do so Online, as I can 'Click and Collect' at Argos which saves me waiting in.
But whether I choose to go 'Click and Collect' or just use the Conventional Post, I've never had much of a Problem when it comes to getting the Stuff.
My problem comes from Ordering Stuff in the first place.
As when Buying Online from somewhere like ebay, all you have to rely on is the Sellers description along with what ever Photos they decide to include.
Which I feel should be enough to describe exactly what you are getting and not just on ebay either but also Parts Suppliers that we have come to rely on for our XJS Spares.
I already had a problem when Ordering Front Brake Pads from a description with Photos, as the ones that I received were a totally different design.
So seeing as lightning doesn't Strike Twice, I recently ordered Rear Brake Pads from a Motor Factors, where once again I had to rely on their
description and Photos of the Brake Pads I though I was going to receive.
What could possibly go wrong?
Well just in case you hadn't guessed, the Brake Pads that I received were of a totally different design to the ones I ordered and had every reason
to believe were the ones I would be getting.
Yes! I'm sure that they would fit and probably be just as good but that isn't the point.
It really isn't much different to ordering Pirelli Tyres only to find that they have decided to send you a different make.
I wonder how many XJS Owners would be happy with that.
'Generic Parts Photos' Don't you just love em!
I wanted the Brake Pads with the Groove as show in the Photo of the Supplier that I ordered them from and they sent me the Solid ones instead, which were not like the ones that I ordered and paid for.

Happy New Year to you too bro. I have been lucky down in Oz. Lots of the places I go to have been recommended by local forum members so I have had a good run with ordering parts over the phone.
Do you have some local forum contacts in your area that can recommend parts? We have a thread of this kind in the Queensland section. Perhaps you could start one in the regional section?

Friday 13th Part One: This Time Tomorrow My Town Could Be Under Water!
Hi Guys
Of all the Places a person could live, I happen to have chosen a Flood Zone!
Where the last time that there was a problem was in 1952.
Since I wasn't around at the time, all I've got to go on is a 'High Tide Mark' which has taken the form of a Monument just on the outskirts of Town
and its not looking good!
If History repeats itself Tomorrow, all my XJS's will be Under Water
Its been on all the News Feeds and no doubt on France 24 which often has the best Coverage of all.
They've called out the Army and set up Rescue Centers, although I only heard about it all this Afternoon as we've been out.
So haven't had a lot of time to make preparations, if the worst should happen.
and while I can always buy a new home or put up a Tent in the Garden (Make that a Boat!)
It is very obviously all my XJS's that I'm most concerned about, especially after all the hard work I've put in.
I can't move my Red XJS as the Rear Brakes are in pieces and I can't move my Blue XJS as I've taken off the front Hub to fix the Steering Arm.
But my Grey XJS is Mobile, so I can probably save that.
And while I am trying to do all I can to try and get them higher off the ground, if the Worst should happen and they are Flooded half way up the doors.
As for Damage Limitation, what could you suggest that I should do when the Water goes down?
