Use a hair drier. Warm the tape up a littöe and thenpeel. It can take a little while but will not daamge your paint. If there weren't any blemishes in the first place, then simply tug it off.. It came off my XJ-S wirh no problem like that....

 

That must be a huge relief. I was reading about the UK weather this morning, and comments on the BBC site suggest that the UK media loves nothing more than calling a gentle shower the deluge of Noah. Still, better safe than sorry.

 

Exactly so. The visible disappointment on the faces of the teenage scribblers when the predicted disaster fails to appear is a sight to see. The "emergency services " now have plans, and meetings, and radios and equipment and they just cannot wait to deploy them all and have their moment of fame in front of the cameras. Just yet another manifestation of the "nanny state". Meanwhile, I can assure you that had 2 inches of snow fallen, the country would have ground to a halt, roads, railways and airports.
There was a photo, supposedly illustrating the terrible conditions towards the north of England in one of the papers yesterday. It was of an elderly lady on her electric mobility trike (these have wheels just about the same size as a large furniture castor) crossing a car park with no bother at all, there being a layer of white on the ground no thicker than the second coat of paint on a car. The irony of the shot was quite lost on the journalist!

Or if you want some real snow.... The part of Japan I live in is called the Snow Country, and in the mountain valleys it can get fairly insane.

We gave up saying 'Crikey' at about the time that we stopped playing Croquet and had Cucumber Sandwiches outside on the Lawn with our Afternoon Tea.

But its such a quaint expression, that I think that I might start to try and bring it back in use again, so the next time that I hit my Thumb with a

FBH and there's blood pouring everywhere,

I'll just try and remember to say 'Crikey' instead of FFS or something a little more 'Salty' that cannot be put into Print.

I could never imagine it Snowing in Japan, I always thought that you would be basking in Hot Sunshine all day long.

But as for getting Snow Tyres, I think you would probably 'Spin her' long before then, as soon as the rear wheels lost their grip from too much Torque.

Though Greg and Grant would probably know for sure.

 

I suppose they love to play as much as we do, as it must be quite an Adrenaline Rush to suddenly get called out in the Middle of the Night to Cover as Story.

The whole operation, must have cost a Fortune but like you say they have to cover their Backsides, just in case.

 

XJSs are not brilliant on ice or hard snow, but I feel that snow tyres are not nearly as good as chains or socks. Chains are the best thing. They are just magic, though you need to practise putting them on a few times first. Chains on the rear, and socks n the front. Or, indeed, socks all round, which are much easier to put on. They work well enough on the drive wheels on snow, although not quite as well as chains, and not near;#ly as well on ice. I once drove my Vauxhall Viva straight through and out of 2 foot of snow just using chains on the back, drive, wheels.

I used chains on my MR2 turbo back in the day - it would go through anything then. But that was mid-engined, with the weight on the back. Out here we don't get that much ice as such, but snow is common. I wonder where I put my old chains, come to think of it. They might actually fit. I don't think I've seen socks (I'm assuming these aren't quite the same as the ones I happen to be currently wearing...), but my main concern would be the low clearance - I ended up ripping off large parts of the plastic undercover from my MR2 by going along unploughed roads - other cars had shaved the snow down, but not quite far enough....

 

Oh definitely not a tropical paradise here, no indeed. We get cold winds straight from Siberia. They pass over the Sea of Japan and pick up loads of moisture, then hit the mountains and dump it. In spectacular amounts....

 

Ha ha well to be honest it is an old saying here too...some still say it though. I usually swear like a sailor so in the forums it is nice to have words I can use instead ha ha ha ha

Now we have the Cameras and Reporters out, covering the 'Clean up Operation' where from what I've seen and heard, I don't think any Sandbags came in contact with the water.
