On reflection it certainly does sound like an electric arc but when I heard that 'Tap Tap' noise, that has to be the stuff of XJS nightmares.
Even in the Second Clip there is still some very feint Tappet noise, so we're not out of the wood yet, although its looking better than it was.

An electric arc that loud would be enormous! This ignition does not throw sparks like that.
First video starts off really odd. What is that buzzing?! Really loud buzzing. The whole time that the ignition is on. Fuel pressure regulator caught in oscillation? Hmmm... odd. I've heard that sound before on Jessie. Struck me as odd then too.
Then you start it and it sounds like a stuck tappet. Smack! smack smack smack Then it frees up. Gone. Then tappet and injector chatter. Sounds normal.
Second vid sounds normal.
Third vid of some other guys Jag doesn't sound like a dropped valve to me. More like piston slap. I wonder if it persisted.
This sounds like a dropped valve seat. It's rhythmic, a calypso drummer, not a corps drummer.
Regardless, Cherry Blossom sounds fine and that's great!

Another Big Problem Just Turned Up!
Hi Guys
Restaurant Cancelled!
Not going out.
Just when I thought it was Safe to go back in the Water, another problems gone and raised its head.
Having been spending some time on Cloud9 reassured the Engine was Ok, the next job was to bleed the Brakes as I have done many times before.
Except on this occasion, I came across a problem when the Front Caliper wouldn't bleed on the drivers side.
At which point I should make clear, that everything to do with them had first been renewed
New Calipers/New Brake Pads/New Brake Flexy Hoses and New Brake Pipes, which I made myself.
Before I even Started I went and Bled the Low Pressure Side of the System and then I Bled the Calipers in the Correct Order.
All the Calipers Bled OK except for the Front One Drivers Side.
And so I did them all again and tightened all the Connections a little bit more but still 'No Dice'
At first I thought it was a dodgy Brake Pipe but on closer inspection it looked OK to me and also looked like it had been Seating properly.
Even so just to be sure I made another one but it didn't make any difference, as the same Front Caliper on the Drivers side refused to Bleed.
No Fluid at all was coming out, never mind any Air so I'm thinking I've now got a problem with the ABS Valve Block.
Having repaired a few of these, I know what I need to do although it isn't always successful if the Valves have gone rusty.
(which I'm guessing that they have after such a long time)
So just another PIA Job that I could do without but that's how it goes!

Back from the dead! 'Cherry Blossom' Lives on to fight another day!
As you know I was really worried that 'Cherry Blossom' my 1990 XJS V12 may have had a dropped valve.
Because on Start Up, She was making some very 'Scary Noises' that sounded like a Hammer Hitting an Anvil.
Which was also coupled to a misfire detonation which had me thinking the worst.
But with the benefit of hindsight was probably caused by washing off some drops of Brake Fluid from when I bled the low pressure side of the system.
On advice from almost everyone, I walked away to collect my thoughts on what I should do next, during which time She was left out in Hot Sunshine.
After which I decided to give her one more try 'And A Miracle Happened!'
She Started on the Button and all those 'Scary Noises' had completely disappeared, which included the 'Misfire Detonation'
Which in someways was the worst of all!
If you listen to the sound on the Video you can hear what sounds like a very Feint Tappet Noise.
But I don't think that it is.
Because I get exactly the same sound on my Merc, which seems to be coming from the Belt drive pulley and disappears after a short drive.
So since 'Cherry Blossom' has been off the road for as long as She has, then I'm 'Cautiously Optimistic'
That we could be 'Back in the Game' and 'Cherry Blossom' will live on to fight another day!

Engine Running before and after 'The Jaguar Gods' lent a hand.
Hi Guys
I don't mind admitting that I thought it was 'Game Over' when the Engine Started to make those 'Scary Noises'
But after leaving her standing She seems to have put herself right, so I'm really keeping my fingers crossed that She stays that way.
Video 1 (Engine Making Noises)
Video 2 (Engine Running Without Noise)
Having got that sorted out, I've got another problem with the Brakes, so may have to rebuild the ABS.
Not that difficult to do but more a bit frustrating when you want to use the Car, in the form of taking this one for an MOT.
Where I have become so obsessed with this, that I have neglected doing some of those mundane Household Chores, like defrosting the Fridge.
I think there is a button somewhere that you have to push or else you can Switch it off and put a bowl of Hot Water inside.
But as I hadn't got the time to stand around and wait, the only other option was to use an Axe.
'Don't Try This At Home.
Defrosting the Fridge with an Axe.
Always handy to keep some Ice in the Fridge for when Friends call round.
