click click
Ok this is an ongoing issue that I have not been able to fix yet. Once the car is driving and gets up to temp if I shut it off and come back to start it does nothing. So far there is a new starter relay a new starter all wire in between has been checked the neutral safety switch has been by passed. If you keep trying it might start but if not you must let it cool than it will fire up. This is an 88 coupe and the previous motor did the same thing so I must be missing something. By nothing I mean there might be a slight click but my hearing is so bad I cant tell.

It's not uncommon for the contacts inside the ignition switch to wear and/or become dirty.
Remove the underdash panel so you can reach the switch. Next time the no-crank happens give the wires a jiggle and see if anything changes.
Or.....
Go to the starter relay and locate the terminal with the white/yellow wire. This is the wire from the ignition switch that energizes the relay. next time the no-start occurs, remove the white/yellow wire and use a jumper wire to apply 12v to the terminal it came off of. If the starter now operates you know that the switch or the white/yellow wire is faulty

Yup.
A NOS ignition switch via David Boger fixed a similar issue and some more.
I found my old switch very loose, had congealed lube and corroded contacts.
While swapping out a starter out two or more, I added a wire from the solenoid to the engine bay. If ever, I need to crank and the ignition switch or relay don't do their jobs, I can touch that wire to battery + and crank the engine. Key on, engine starts. Caution. It better be in P or N!!!
Or key off merely to turn the engine, for what ever reason.
Jaguar purrs, I'm happy. OTHER THINGS OF COURSE!!!!

Things don't always fail in the exact way we would anticipate.
Sometimes all you can do is methodically eliminate possibilities.
