Confused on replacing FI hoses
Hi everyone, I'm replacing the fuel injector hoses and totally confused on how to do it. I've read several posting on here and other jag forums, some say don't use hose clamps with barb ends some say do. I talked to a jag repair shop here in Phx, and he says if you don't use hose clamps the hoses will leak, do I have to use the collars and if so both ends or just the end between the rail and hos? The car is a 89 V12.

ALL my V12's have been done with clamps.
My reasons at the time were simple.
1) No computers to read forums on, so my own brain had to work it out.
2) Most had been messed with prior to my owning.
ALSO, the barbs on some of them were marked, as they can do when removing the old hoses, so I "CAREFULLY" remove that marking/grooves, and that also removed the SHARP rim of the barb, so NO CLAMP was simply going to leak. Not rocket science for me in those days, or today.
I ONLY use the EFI spec clamps, NOT the standard spec.
I tighten the clamps JUST SNUG. Prime the rail, looking for leaks, if OK, run the engine to operating temp. Switch off, let it cool, then retighten each clamp 1/2 turn, NO MORE. Never had an issue.

Some people argue that the clamps will damage the hose because of the small contact area from the barbs.
If you have ferrules use them.
Leak? why would they leak? they came from the factory with ferrules only and they didn't leak then.
Cut the correct hose to the correct length and replace the ferrules, job done
